Biggest Influence

There’s been a few, but my first job as a reporter at a press agency was the steepest learning curve and a truly eye-opening introduction to the world of the media. The first major story I worked on was Harold Shipman, so it really was a case of being thrown in at the deep end.

I still use lessons I learned in that job every day.

Career Highlight

It will always be taking the leap to start Aberfield and now seeing what it’s become. And while the work keeps it fun, it’s looking at the people past and present and how they have all developed which is the real highlight.

Favourite Place

San Sebastian in Northern Spain is somewhere I love. I’ve been going there for over 20 years for the food and atmosphere and you are almost always guaranteed a good time! It always feels very easy to slide into the way of life as soon as you arrive.

Alternative Career

I’d love to work at one of the big auction houses. I was taken to all sorts of auctions as a kid from antiques to houses and always loved the buzz and excitement. I also managed to pretty much furnish my first house from one for about £60. You just have to remember not to bid on everything!
