Lacking inspiration for your next LinkedIn post? Here’s 5 ways to get out of the slump

Social video

If you’re not already creating short-form video content for your business, it’s not too late to start.

According to TikTok’s 2023 Full Funnel Research, two-thirds (63%) have discovered new food and drink products via the platform and one-third (34%) have purchased a product they first learned about on the app.

As well as being a unique search engine which allows you to interact with your audience and sell product all in one place, the average TikTok user is reported to be aged over 30, according to its owner ByteDance.

Now, even if you know integrating short-form video content into your social media strategy is a good idea, you may still find yourself lacking inspiration when it comes to executing it. Don’t worry, we’ve got you.

Here’s five budget-friendly content ideas to get you started…

1. Tell your brand story

If short-form content has taught us anything, it’s that you can tell your brand story over and over again – you just need to come up with different ways of sharing it.

This reel from one of Leeds-finest, Chunk Bakery, is a great example of engaging your community while also attracting new audience members by sharing the journey you’ve been on so far.

2. Be the influencer you want to see in the world

Wanting to show off a new launch? Be the influencer you want to see in the world!

Bird and Blend put personality at the front of their social strategy, and this example from the launch of their summer specials does a great job of presenting a script full of key messages in an approachable way.

Simply channel your inner vlogger and think about how you can set up your background for the ideal demonstration.

3. Show off your expertise

While this Luxe Collective example looks very high tech, it’s a good example of content that shows you’re the expert, and they’ve built a social media empire by doing so. In fact this example achieved just over 90,000 views on Instagram alone.

The purpose though is simple, to answer a consumer FAQ, but they’ve only used that as the hook of the video. Instead, taking the opportunity to answer the question and educate about the niche history of the products.

4. Meet the team

Your short-form content also doesn’t have to have reaps of effort behind it though. Sometimes, it can be as simple as thinking of a question for your team to answer.

I love this Contiki example because it’s quick, effective and successful, with Contiki regularly repeating the format and this example achieved almost 40,000 views.

People-focused content always performs well and giving a glimpse into the ‘behind the scenes’ in a way that feels authentic for your brand can really pay off.

5. Follow me to

Finally, and a personal favourite, you can never go wrong with a ‘follow me to’ style video. It’s a great way to update your socials on what you’ve been up to recently by simply editing together clips from a company trip, charity event or conference.
