We were recently brought on board by Leeds Beckett University to support a very exciting project the launch of its inaugural Sport Hall of Fame.

The Hall of Fame celebrates 37 alumni who’ve made outstanding contributions to the world of sport, including the likes of Olympic triathlon champion Alistair Brownlee OBE; Emily Campbell, the first British woman to win an Olympic medal in weightlifting; Leeds Rhinos legend Jamie Jones-Buchanan MBE and rugby icon Sir Ian McGeechan.

Our brief? To showcase the remarkable launch of the Hall of Fame and shine a light on Leeds Beckett’s rich sporting legacy.

The launch event took place at the university’s flagship Carnegie School of Sport, hosted by sports broadcaster Tanya Arnold, with many of the sport stars in attendance. Alongside the unveiling of the honours board, guests explored memorabilia from the inductees, including Alistair Brownlee’s tri-suit from the ITU World Triathlon Championship Series and Kevin Sinfield’s Great Britain Rugby League shirt.

Press Releases and Coverage

To amplify the moment, we issued pre and post-event press releases to inform journalists about the Sports Hall of Fame, and teamed up with broadcast specialists Be Broadcast to deliver a high-impact media relations campaign.

We secured widespread coverage across national, regional and sport-specific media, with Sky News, ITV Calendar, BBC Look North and the Yorkshire Post all in attendance to capture the milestone.

The results?

  • Total of 116 pieces of coverage (and counting!)
  • Television coverage on Sky News, ITV Calendar and BBC Look North
  • Over 70 radio pieces, including interviews with BBC, Greatest Hits Network and Off the Ball podcast
  • Over 20 pieces in print and online, including Sky News, Sky Sports, BBC News and Yorkshire Post
  • A huge, estimated reach of more than five million, across print, online, radio and TV, with all coverage including brand mentions and key messaging around the Hall of Fame, and Leeds Beckett’s sporting legacy

Proud to be based in Leeds, it was a very special project to be involved in, to tell the stories of these incredible athletes that began their careers in this city and celebrate the university’s lasting impact on sport.
