Go Tri Launch

L-R: Jenny Vincent of British Triathlon; Aberfield’s Rebecca Armstrong; Elite Triathlete Lucy Hall at the GO TRI launch at Armley Leisure Centre.

What better way to end the week, than by announcing some great news. We’ve been appointed by Leeds City Council and British Triathlon to deliver PR activity for the 2016 Columbia Threadneedle World Triathlon Leeds.

We were appointed following a competitive pitch process, and we’ll implement a five-month PR campaign encompassing traditional, experiential and online activities, as the city prepares to host the UK leg of the 2016 ITU World Triathlon Series on June 12.

Part of a wider national marketing strategy, our brief is to raise the profile of the World Triathlon nationally and locally. Our campaign will also aim to attract event participants, volunteers and spectators, as well as the sale of Grandstand ticket sales, and inspire the city of Leeds to get active.

You may have seen, we have already started to build excitement for the event by launching the Leeds GO TRI – a mini-triathlon that encourages people to get more active and takes place over the same weekend as the main event – and the ‘Tri Something New’ legacy programme.

Leeds was officially selected as the host of the UK leg of the 2016 ITU World Triathlon Series‘ calendar in May 2015. Other stages in the 2016 series are: Abu Dhabi (March 4-5), Gold Coast (April 9-10), Cape Town (April 24), Yokohama (May 14-15), Stockholm (July 2-3), Hamburg (July 16-17), Edmonton (Sept 3-4) and Cozumel (Grand Final, Sept 11-18).

The Columbia Threadneedle World Triathlon Leeds, which is part of UK Sport’s National Lottery-funded #EveryRoadtoRio events series, will offer the British public the unmissable opportunity to witness Great Britain’s Rio medal hopefuls in action for the last time on home soil, as they square up against the some of the best athletes in the world.

The Columbia Threadneedle World Triathlon Leeds also provides recreational triathletes with the unique opportunity to compete on the same course as elite athletes across a range of different distances. A limited number of entries are still available – for more information please visit:
