Award Win

A few sore heads in the office in the morning is always the sign of a good night previously. On this occasion it was due to attending the 2015 CIPR PRide Awards at Aspire, Leeds.

We were up for three awards: Outstanding PR Consultancy, Outstanding Small PR Consultancy and Best Use of Social Media. To be honest, we were chuffed just to be nominated in some of the top categories, especially given the tough opposition – some cracking campaigns and some very good PR agencies.

After a few glasses of vino and a nice three-course meal – special shout out to the Acceleris girls, Ellie and Rebecca, for being top company, sharing their black pudding and putting up with Christian – the awards began.

We were slightly taken aback when we heard our name called out as Gold Winners of Best Use of Social Media for our work helping The Football Pools increase engagement and awareness through our #AllToPlayFor campaign.

The realisation that we’d won kicked in and after a few high-fives we made our way to the stage to graciously accept our award, and tried not to pull any odd faces for the official award presentation photo, which we failed miserably at!

According to the official CIPR website: “The judges were very impressed by Aberfield Communications’ use of research, not just at the outset of the campaign, but also continuously throughout in order to ensure the output of activity continued to be effective. A great example of a successful social media campaign.”

We just missed out on the other two awards, but that gives us something to aim for next time.

All in all it was a great night, catching up with some old friends and colleagues, as well as meeting some new faces. Again, the standard was pretty bloomin’ high, with the winners and nominees’ work highlighting the depth of talent in the PR and social media sector in Yorkshire.

See you next year!
