Aberfield PR picture of the Week

Posted on June 27, 2014 by

Not that we necessarily expected anything more, but once again any glimmer of optimism that England might deliver in a World Cup was snuffed out in São Paulo last Thursday, as Bitey Suarez bagged a brace.

But even more depressingly, we then had to play the mighty Costa Rica in order to restore some pride in the national game. The sense of deflation at coming home so prematurely is normally captured in the tear-streaked and smudged painted face of a fan, but on this occasion this image sums it up completely.

A lone England fan in the centre of Leeds keeping the flame of hope alive, as the rest of us collectively shrugged and switched over to Wimbledon.
