Picture of the week – Bring Back Our Girls

Posted on May 9, 2014 by

Our picture of the week blog post is dedicated to all the images shared across social media to support the ‘Bring Back Our Girls’ campaign.

Everyone from Michelle Obama to Anne Hathaway has been calling for the 300 girls who were abducted by Boko Haram, to be returned. They’re taking to social media to post photos of themselves holding placards with the #BringBackOurGirls hashtag. Photos have appeared from the likes of Malala Yousafzai, a leading global advocate for girls’ education, celebrities Kim Kardashian, Leona Lewis and Alexa Chung and Hilary Clinton.

The campaign has been that widely shared that it has resulted in photos from the 2011 #RealMenDontBuyGirls campaign started by Ashton Kutcher and his then wife Demi Moore, to be re-shared and the hashtag be re-adopted as the support for the girls who were abducted continues to build.
