Aberfield’s PR news diary

Posted on April 14, 2014 by

The Easter holidays are fast-approaching so expect stories around ‘Eggciting Easter activities’ and the worst PR stunts since April Fool’s Day. Here are some other events which are likely to get the media talking:

Get your hands dirty, it’s National Gardening Week. The week encourages people to get involved in gardening as an on-going hobby – ideal for horticultural novices.

Monday 14th – The winners of the prestigious Pulitzer Prize awards will be revealed in the US. The prizes honour the best of American journalism.

Tuesday 15th – It’s the 25th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster.

It’s deadline for completion of Arena Corinthians in Brazil, which will host the inaugural match of the 2014 World Cup. Another missed deadline? The media will no doubt remind us that Brazil’s not equipped for the tournament.

It’s also a year since the Boston bombings, with commemorations taking place in the US.

Wednesday 16th – Kate, Wills and Prince George go to Australia as part of their tour down under. Cue a repeat of last week’s media frenzy.

The UK monthly unemployment figures will also be released.

Thursday 17th – It’s Victoria Beckham’s 40th birthday so expect stories on her career as a singer, designer, model and businesswoman.

Friday 18th – It’s Good Friday and the start of a very long weekend. Hooray!
