Aberfield PR’s weekly news diary

Posted on September 30, 2013 by

Our Aberfield PR guide to what’s likely to hit the headlines this week…

Monday 30th – Second day of the Tory Party Conference in Manchester. Mortgage plans for struggling families is the big news today, and Osborne’s expected to announce later that welfare claimants will have to work for their dole money. Let’s see what else Cameron et al have got up their sleeves after Miliband’s socialist stamp last week.

Tuesday 1st – Pinch and a punch for the first of the month…and the National Minimum Wage goes up 12p, making it now £6.31 an hour. Government campaign to let people know goes full force.

Wednesday 2ndTimes Higher Education publishes world’s university rankings.

Thursday 3rd – It’s National Poetry Day. The theme this year is water, inspired by Coleridge’s mariner’s famous cry: “Water, water, everywhere”. Expect poetry readings, launches, prizes and performances.

London Restaurant Festival also begins, running until 21st October. It promises to ‘lift the lid on London’s finest cooking’ with over 800 restaurants taking part and Gizzi Erskine fronting it. We love Gizzi.

Friday 4th – World Animal Day to celebrate animal life in all its forms. Special events planned in locations all over the globe. And lots of cute pictures on social media, no doubt.
